Custom, locally made cabinets for every room
Custom Cabinetry is exactly that, a unique solution made just for you, your space, your style, and your budget. During your free in home consultation I will listen to your thoughts and ideas and discuss your project parameters. Generally within a week you will have a detailed quote and when required a custom design. Your vision will become a reality once we begin building and installation, and that is the day that I live for!
Below you can read all about the design process and learn a bit about how we locally source cabinetry from the finest local craftsmen and offer a lifetime warranty on their tremendous workmanship. When you see the quality of our work and the personal touch we maintain with all of our clients, you will never dream of going to a big box store again.
JOAT is proudly local, and it is honour to serve Greater Victoria, and all of Vancouver Island, we have the very best clients in the world!
Custom Cabinetry is not nearly as difficult to source, or as expensive to purchase, as you may think. Below I am going to outline the steps involved to show you how simple it can be to get the cabinetry you want for the price that you need. Once you add in the locally sourced material and the lifetime warranty we offer, it really is the best option on Vancouver Island for a custom solution.
When you decide to engage JOAT services a project plan is fully sorted out after the initial meeting. Depending on whether other trades involved (framing, drywall, paint, flooring, electrical, plumbing, tile etc) will all have an impact on the project timeline.
From the date of final measure, we are generally ready to install your cabinetry between 6-8 weeks later, depending on the materials required and the complexity of the project.
The number one thing that happens at your free in-home consultation is that I LISTEN. I listen to your hopes and dreams for your project, I get a sense of your space and how it fits into your life, and I gather all of the details about your budget and timeline. From there I go out to speak with my tradespeople and suppliers to put together your free quote.
After we have had our in-home consultation, I go back to my suppliers and trades people, and begin to explore a variety of options that will best meet your timeline, budget, and desires. After I put together the plan, I get in touch and we go over the free quote together so you can see how your dream can become a reality.
Installation is the best part of all. This is where we prep your space for installation, and complete any demolition or cabinet removal that you may have requested in our initial planning meetings. Your cabinets get delivered and installed by my team, and I meet you in person to go over the work to make sure everything is perfect before we tidy up and leave you to enjoy your new space.
Supporting your neighbourhood tradespeople
I engage the expertise of several locally owned and operated millwork shops that I have known and trusted for many years. Supporting our communities and neighbours is extremely important to me. Together we ensure that your project is built correctly to exacting professional standards. All of our work is by local people, for local people.
Yes, you could likely source a cheaper cabinet (and in many cases inferior) from a big box store with suppliers across the border, and in some cases overseas. But why would you when buying local means getting a face to face guarantee and lifetime warranty from neighbours who will support you long after your project is complete?
Simply put, I stand behind what I sell. I stand behind the tradespeoples’ workmanship as well. If it’s not to industry standards, I engage them to find solutions and make the necessary changes to satisfy all client concerns.
Cabinetry Construction and installation is warranted from defect for three years*, and many supplier components have even longer warranties. Some door suppliers offer a 5 year limited* warranty. Blum (our preferred hardware manufacturer) offers limited* lifetime warranty replacement on hinges and drawer slides and many other items.
*Limited warranties are limited to cases in which failure is deemed to be from regular wear and usage. Does not cover neglect or “hard” use.
I will provide services to anyone on Vancouver Island as well as the Gulf Islands that make up our coastline. Some outlying communities make it cost prohibitive for us to visit you free of charge. For those communities, I have had much success with video chat, followed up by photographs and rough measurements in order to provide you with a free quotation. For all clients in the Greater Victoria Area, as well as Cobble Hill, Duncan, and Nanaimo, we will not have any trouble making out to see you in short order.
